The presentation and experience of a fine cocktail defines the moment and even character of the person enjoying the drink. There are plenty of well-known cocktails available and here is a short list of 10 simple cocktails for you to try and enjoy.


Blue Lagoon, a popular summer cocktail featuring blue Curaçao.

  1. Fill a glass with ice. Fill a highball glass with cubes of ice.
  2. Add Vodka and lemonade
  3. Stir thoroughly. Stir the mixture until well combined.
  4. Add Blue Curaçao liqueur. Drizzle 25ml Blue Curaçao liqueur over the mixture.
  5. Garnish with lemon.

Manhattan, a cocktail made with whiskey, sweet vermouth, and bitters.

  1. Fill a boston glass with ice
  2. Add all ingredients, whiskey, vermouth, bitters
  3. Stir throroughly
  4. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass
  5. Garnish with an orange twist or maraschino cherrry

Cosmopolitan, a cocktail made with vodka, triple sec, cranberry juice, and freshly squeezed or sweetened lime juice.

  1. Combine vodka, lime juice, triple sec, and cranberry juice in a cocktail shaker
  2. Add ice, cover and shake until chilled
  3. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass
  4. Garnish with a lime wedge

Midori Splice, made for warm summer evening parties, this is a refreshing mix of pineapple, lime and a touch of cream.

  1. Fill your glass with ice
  2. Build the ingredients, Midori, Malibu, Pineapple juice
  3. Float the coconut cream on top
  4. Garnish with a wedge of fresh pineapple.

Long Island Iced Tea, typically made with vodka, tequila, light rum, triple sec, gin, and a splash of cola.

  1. 15mL White Rum, 15mL Vodka, 15mL Gin, 15mL Tequila, 15mL Cointreau, Coke, 22.5mL Fresh lemon juice
  2. Add all the ingredients to a high ball or cooler glass, leaving the lemon juice until last
  3. Garnish with a lime wedge

Japanese Slipper, a drink made from Midori, Cointreau, and lemon juice. 

  1. 30mL Midori Liqueur, 30mL Cointreau, 30mL Lemon Juice
  2. Fill a boston glass with ice
  3. Add all ingredients
  4. Shake and strain into a chilled martini glass
  5. Garnish with a maraschino cherry

Grasshopper is an old classic, sweet, mint-flavored, after-dinner drink.

  1. Combine creme de menthe, creme de cacao, cream, and ice in a cocktail shaker.
  2. Cover and shake until chilled.
  3. Strain into chilled cocktail glass.

Mint Julep, a cocktail consisting primarily of bourbon, water, crushed or shaved ice, and fresh mint.

  1. Place 5 or 6 leaves of mint in the bottom of a pre-chilled, dry 12-ounce glass
  2. Add sugar and crush slightly
  3. Pack glass with finely cracked ice.
  4. Pour a generous 3 ounces of Kentucky bourbon over the ice.
  5. Stir briskly until the glass frosts.
  6. Add more ice and stir again before serving.
  7. Stick a few sprigs of mint into the ice for aroma

Apple Martini, a cocktail containing vodka and one or more of apple juice, apple cider, apple liqueur, or apple brandy.

  1. Fill a boston glass with ice
  2. Add vodka and apple flavouring ingredients
  3. Shake and strain into a chilled martini glass
  4. Garnish with a slice of apple

Mojito, a cocktail that consists of five ingredients: white rum, sugar, lime juice, soda water, and mint.

  1. Fill a hi-ball glass with ice
  2. Pick some fresh mint and tear in half, place on the palm of your hand, clap the mint and add to glass
  3. Add the rum, lime juice and sugar syrup
  4. Top with a splash of soda
  5. Stir thoroughly
